'Unfair' deal for rural road victims

GUANGZHOU: Imagine this. If you are an urban resident and get killed in a road accident, your family will get a whopping sum of money as compensation. But the family of a rural resident killed on the road will get less than a third of that amount.

Now stop imagining.

Guangdong's provincial department of public security openly declared its attitude last week, when it introduced a new compensation standard for the province's accident victims.
