Mainland purchases plugged in

China Daily | Updated: 2009-06-03 07:44

Mainland TV makers may buy $4.4 billion of components from Taiwan this year, double the original plan, Bloomberg quoted Bai Weimin, secretary-general of the China Video Industry Association, as saying.

"China's domestic demand has risen more than we had expected, so we're doubling our budget," Bai said at a press conference in Taipei yesterday.

The TV makers will purchase flat-panel displays and other components, she said.
