Olympic Lin's TV role

Lin Miaoke, the 10-year-old girl whose solo Ode to the Motherland (Gechang Zuguo) was among the highlights of the Beijing Olympics' Opening Ceremony last summer, is to host CCTV Children's Day Gala on 8 pm, June 1.

First broadcast in 1974, the show is CCTV's annual celebration of the children's festival. This year, children from around China, including Hong Kong, Macao and earthquake-hit Sichuan, will sing Chinese songs from different eras. Hundreds of children's drawings will also be on display.
