Celebrities should be mindful of their public image and social responsibility when advertising for certain products, especially drugs. More than that, the supervisory and regulatory authorities should lay down stricter measures to ensure the quality of products, says an article in The Beijing News. Excerpts:

A new judicial documentary said anyone involved in advertising campaigns for fake or inferior drugs shall be prosecuted as accomplices and charged with criminal liability.

It has become a fashion for some merchants to get celebrities to endorse certain product advertisements. This is expected to make the product popular and increase its sales. Now, some of these turn out to be fake drugs or products of inferior quality.
