Finding golden prospects amid global economic meltdown
As the global economy slowed - or even backtracked - many overseas Chinese experts found it's a good time to develop their careers or start up businesses in their homeland, where higher rates of economic growth continue and demand for high-profile, hi-tech professionals is still on the rise.
The confluence of events is clearly felt at the Beijing Economic and Technological Development Area (BDA), a State-level economic zone in Beijing's southern suburbs that is home to development of hi-tech firms and ideas.
Authorities of the BDA say they know that overseas Chinese scholars with rich foreign experience will play a bigger role in China to improve global competitiveness, so the BDA began offering overseas Chinese scholars a range of incentives at the end of last year.
