Nazi piece of work

Austrian film The Counterfeiters, a true account of the Nazi's counterfeiting operation, opens in Beijing this weekend. Based on the novel The Devil's Workshop, by Adolf Burger, the film tells the little-known story of Salomon Sorowitsch and a group of concentration camp inmates as they struggle to survive.
Professional forger Salomon, or Sally, is arrested in Berlin and taken to Sachsenhausen to produce counterfeit dollars. His decision to collude with the Nazis goes against that of fellow conspirator Adolf Burger who would rather damage the operation than finance the Nazi war effort.
Writer-director Stefan Ruzowitzky's use of tango underscores the story line. Starring Karl Markovics, August Diehl, and Devid Striesow, the film was voted best foreign language film at the 80th Academy Awards.
