Stenson: Sawgrass victory proves I can bag a major

LONDON: Sweden's Henrik Stenson said his confidence had soared since winning the Players Championship, the tournament unofficially dubbed the "fifth major".

"I played great and took great pride in beating the strongest field of the year," the world No 4 told reporters on Tuesday as he prepared for this week's PGA Championship at Wentworth.

"Winning at Sawgrass (in Florida this month) was the highlight of my career so far. I think my performance kind of gives me the receipt that I am capable of winning a major."
