Reward, gifts for honest cabbie

Argentines have showered with gifts a taxi driver honest enough to return a large sum of money left behind by a passenger.

Some 55,000 people flooded a website dedicated to the effort: Devolvelelaguitaaltaxista.com (returnthecashtothecabby.com). This weekend, campaigners reached their goal: 130,000 pesos ($35,000) - the sum left in the cab - in gifts to Santiago Gori, who drives his cab in La Plata, a city 60 km southeast of Buenos Aires. His pile of gifts included new tires for his taxi, a business suit and a bottle of wine.
