Nine detained for scam

The police here claimed to have arrested nine members of a gang that duped 31 Shanghai residents of more than 7 million yuan ($1 million) in 10 months. The three leaders of the gang surnamed Ding, He and Li confessed they were running a scam in the garb of an overseas investment company with an annual return of 20 percent, the Shanghai municipal public security bureau said.
