Love is in the air in championship circles
China thrashed South Korea 3-0 to win their third straight Sudirman Cup on Sunday in Guangzhou but the Chinese head coach is looking for another kind of dream showdown: between lovers.
According to Li, Chinese badminton sweethearts Lin Dan and Xie Xingfang will play against another well-known couple of the sport, Lee Chong Wei and Wong Mew Choo from Malaysia, in an exhibition match in October somewhere in China.
The showdown is expected to include a mouth-watering men's singles match between Lin, the reigning world and Olympic champion, and Lee, the reigning world No 1, as well as a women's singles match between Xie, two-time world champion and Olympic silver medalist, and Wong, world No 14, and also an entertaining mixed doubles game between the two couples.
