Turpan tourism ripens along with its grapes

By Zhu Linyong | China Daily | Updated: 2009-05-19 07:42

The grapes of Turpan are ripe, and Anarhan's heart is ecstatic

That line from a popular Uygur ethnic tune of the last century might describe the feeling of summer tourists visiting an area now known as Grape Valley.

Inhabited by about 6,000 people of Uygur, Hui and Han, Grape Valley has more than 400 hectares of cultivated land, including 220 hectares of grape farms. Peaches, apricots, apples, pears and melons also grow in abundance.
