New job for sacked official

China Daily | Updated: 2009-05-15 07:41

A disgraced official sacked for using public money to organize a staff sightseeing tour during the mourning period for Sichuan earthquake victims has quietly been given a new role.

Shao Liyong, former head of the industrial and commercial administration in Binzhou, Shandong province, has been appointed vice-head of the same provincial administration in Weihai, Beijing News reported yesterday.

The appointment is the latest in a string of cases in which officials sacked for misconduct have been given new jobs or even promotions.
