Traffic rules reduce noise pollution in Beijing
Limitations on car horns and a total ban on high-pitched horns in Beijing's urban areas have reduced traffic noise by one to six decibels in the city's main streets, according to the Beijing Environmental Protection Bureau.
Horns are now banned on 70 Beijing streets. The sound level of all the horns installed in the city's 230,000 is below 105 decibels.
In the past two years, 120,000 vehicles have been fitted with low frequency horns.
