Special Report: Is M&A the right way for China?
The global economic crisis provides Chinese entrepreneurs ideal opportunities to accelerate their globalization strategy and hone their competitive edge, according to Xiang Bing, founding dean and professor of the Cheung Kong Graduate School of Business (GSB).
Xiang made the comments at a roundtable discussion held at the business school in Beijing on Monday. At the meeting, academics, specialists and executives of leading global companies, including IBM, GE and Tata, offered their insights into the risks and opportunities of transnational mergers and acquisitions (M&As) - especially in light of the current global economic downturn.
The Chinese expression for crisis consists of two words - Wei Ji, the former meaning hazard and the latter referring to probabilities or opportunities.
