Empowering hydro power

China has vowed to help push forward international projects to develop small hydropower supplies - using experience gained in developing such projects for rural residents and in developing countries.

Chen Lei, minister of water resources, made the commitment during his keynote speech at the 5th Hydropower for Today Forum, which kicked off Monday with more than 50 officials and experts from 26 countries and the UNIDO. The cooperation will mostly focus on construction, exchanges of advanced policy-making, technology training and consulting along with information-sharing, he said.
