After the release of Secret of the Magic Gourd in 2007, Walt Disney Studios unveils its second joint production with China, Touch of the Panda, which opens citywide on May 8.
Filmed in live action at the famous Wolong Giant Panda Nature Reserve, the movie follows the adventures of a baby panda who is separated from his mother and then befriends a lonely orphan boy, played by newcomer, Japanese actor Daichi Harashima. The boy then takes it upon himself to help the panda find his way home, and the two travel around the Sichuan countryside. The film is directed by Yu Zhong from China.
In the Disney tradition of family films, Touch of the Panda takes audiences on an interesting and heart-warming adventure with the cute animal, which is also considered the symbol of China.
