Room to move, plenty of color and light

When we decided to renovate our apartment in 2007, we thought a lot about our son, who recently turned 4. We wanted a colorful, flexible space that would give him plenty of room and also keep him curious and excited.
We chose a room close to the balcony and bathroom, so that he could go out to play freely, reach the toilet in time (all parents know how important this is), while having space to move around.
It might surprise many, but the closets of his room posed the most daunting challenge for us. The corridor outside has a wall space which seemed ideal for a clothes closet. To keep his room tidy - it's amazing how many toys a toddler can accumulate - we also turned a part of the bathroom into another closet.
