Dancer Yang Liping's new production Sound of Yunnan is inspired by the natural sounds of this beautiful region in Southwest China. Every place has its distinctive sound - the peddlers of Beijing hutongs, clamorous nongtang in Shanghai, and mahjong gatherings in Chengdu. In Yunnan, the sound comes from the river, forests, flowers, insects and local instruments. Accompanied by these sounds, Yang narrates an ancient legend through dance.
