Penultimate stage of vote

Millions of Indians voted in the penultimate stage of a general election yesterday as violence marred the ballot in the possible swing state of West Bengal where the ruling Congress-led alliance hopes to win crucial seats.

At least two people were killed and dozens injured in West Bengal after supporters of the Congress alliance and the ruling state communist parties clashed outside the state capital, Kolkata, in separate incidents.
