Six on trial for train tragedy

By Xin Dingding | China Daily | Updated: 2009-05-08 07:48

Just a few days after the one-year anniversary of China's worst train crash in a decade, a trial began for six people charged with causing the accident.

In the early morning of April 28 last year the Beijing-Qingdao high-speed train jumped its tracks and slammed into another train near the small city of Zibo in Shandong province.

Seventy-two people were killed and 416 injured in the disaster, which some say has exposed mismanagement of the railway.
