Kunming casts wide net for talent

Kunming is scouring the globe in search of the best and brightest young economists as the southwestern hub looks to transform itself into a modern city.

The "city of eternal spring" is looking for 40 economists to bolster its municipal government staff. The government says it is looking for people with doctorates in economics to work in sub-prefectural positions, such as deputy county chiefs, assistants to the directors of development zones and deputy directors of some municipal departments, Kunming Daily reported

It is the first time the city has looked to hire talent from overseas, the paper reported.
