Newspapers lose readers

Newspapers are losing appeal as more and more people are logging on to the Internet to get information, a survey has found.

Sixty-four percent of the respondents in a survey conducted by the Chinese Research Institute of Publishing Science said they regularly read one or more newspapers last year, nearly 10 percentage points lower than the previous year. In contrast, 36.5 percent of the people said they preferred to read news online, a rate that's climbing quickly, the survey said.
