Causes of killer landslides

Investigators have identified the causes of two landslides that killed 11 people and injured two more on Sunday, a local government official said yesterday.

The first landslide at 11:40 am in Linfeng township was the result of unsafe quarry production, while the second at 12:40 pm in Zhaxi township was caused by continuous heavy rainfall over three or four days, said Tang Guoqian, head of publicity for Weixin county.
