China Philharmonic Orchestra's concert tomorrow night will feature a violin solo by 79-year-old American violinist and conductor Joseph Silverstein.
The concert is part of the orchestra's Mendelssohn series to commemorate the 200th anniversary of the German composer's birth. Silverstein will conduct Mendelssohn's Third Symphony in A Minor and Fourth Symphony in A Major and play the Violin Concerto in E Minor.
Silverstein served as concertmaster and assistant conductor of the Boston Symphony Orchestra for many years and has also been principal Northwest Chamber Orchestra and conductor laureate of the Utah Symphony.
