Airport in Dalian to be expanded
To meet the needs of opening-up policy, the project to expand the airport in Dalian began yesterday.
The project will be completed in three stages. The first involves the expansion of an old runway, five communication roads, two aprons and three navigation towers.
It is expected that large passenger planes such as the Boeing 747 will be able to land at the airport by the end of the year and direct air routes will be opened to Hong Kong, Japan, Southeast Asia and other parts of the world.
Museum set up in memory of author
A Cao Xueqin Museum, whose establishment was promoted by people interested in Cao and his masterpiece "A dream of Red Mansions", opened yesterday at the Beijing Botanical Garden.
The museum is composed of five exhibition halls where relics, believed to have connections with this great Qing Dynasty writer, are displayed.
For decades there have been debates on where the exact residence of Cao Xueqin is, but researchers and scholars at the museum still believe that this museum can help further research on Cao and his book.
