Ramos: Asia speaking with a shared voice

Editor's note: China Business News interviewed Fidel Valdez Ramos, former president of the Philippines and chairman of the board of directors of the Boao Forum for Asia on the eve of the annual forum.

Q: What are the impacts from the financial crisis on Asia's markets ?

Ramos: The crisis has driven economies downward in major nations like the US, UK, Germany and France. The impact has also spread to emerging markets in East Asia, Southeast Asia and South Asia. Impacts on developing countries cannot be generalized at this point, but they are dependent on efforts to combat the slowdown in developed countries as well as their own response.
