Police on wild bear hunt

Joggers beware: a wild bear has been spotted in capital Ljubljana's central park, alarming citizens and prompting a massive hunt.

Police yesterday closed off the area around the Tivoli park - a wide, green area enjoyed for recreation and walks - after officials of a nearby zoo reported seeing a bear there in the early morning. The zoo says it's not one of their two bears.

Police called in wildlife services to catch the animal, which they say was later wandering toward another part of the park.

Police have warned citizens to avoid the area and report any bear sightings.
