SHANGHAI: Construction work on the country's first citywide express rail will begin in Shanghai by the end of this year, local authorities announced yesterday.
The southern extension of line 11 will connect Longyang Road Station, where one might change to Maglev train, going to Shanghai Pudong International Airport or take Metro line 2 to downtown, and Lingang New District, according to the Shanghai Railway Transportation Construction Headquarter.
The extension will be nearly 60-km long with 11 stations. Trains will run at a maximum speed of 120 km per hour.
