The southern extension of line 11 will connect Longyang Road Station, where one might change to Maglev train, going to Shanghai Pudong International Airport or take Metro line 2 to downtown, and Lingang New District, according to the Shanghai Railway Transportation Construction Headquarter.

The extension will be nearly 60-km long with 11 stations. Trains will run at a maximum speed of 120 km per hour.
