Death ruling appealed

An off-duty police officer who shot a man dead during an argument over a minor road accident has appealed his death sentence.

Ji Zhongchun, 42, was allegedly drunk when he reversed into a car driven by 40-year-old Pan Jun in Mengzi county, Yunnan province, on Feb 13. Pan got out of his vehicle and argued with Ji before the cop withdrew a gun and shot him three times. Pan later died in hospital.
