By Wang Hongyi | China Daily | Updated: 2009-04-15 07:47

SHANGHAI: After being deaf for almost six years, teenager Zhang Meng was finally able to hear again yesterday thanks to a foundation aimed at helping disadvantaged students.

The 18-year-old girl was the lucky recipient of a cochlea implant at the Eye Ear Nose and Throat Hospital of Fudan University and is expected to regain full hearing within a year.

"I haven't heard a voice for such a long time, I'm very happy. I love people talking to me," Zhang said.
