Boat's birthday bash

DMC Australian champ Dexter is ready to rock The Boat at its first birthday party today, as part of a 24 hour DJ marathon that begins at 5 pm.

There will also be three live bands performing on the upper deck from 9:30 pm. Dexter, who came second in the 2000 world DMC finals, is also an acknowledged producer, having worked with the Beastie Boys and produced the international hit Frontier Psychiatrist (The Avalanches).

Dexter has also formed The Shook Daily Crew, composed of fellow DJs Kuya and Ooi, who put together a mixed bag of Caribbean funk, garage rock, Polynesian folk and current dance and hip hop sounds. The only boat club in Beijing has putsome of the capital city's biggest name DJs behind the decks since it was launched, besides hosting some innovative live events.
