Trichet urges rapid action
European Central Bank President Jean-Claude Trichet said measures to support the economy decided at the G20 meeting in London must be introduced "quickly" by governments to "convince" the market, Il Sole 24 Ore reported, citing an interview.
"The measures of support are very significant, but haven't always been introduced effectively" in the past, Trichet said, according to the newspaper. "That's why the measures decided in London should be introduced quickly, rapidly and as professionally as possible," he was quoted as saying. Trichet also said that the "correction" of markets continues and is of "great magnitude", the newspaper reported.
