European stocks edge up
European stocks rose modestly yesterday despite hefty gains earlier in Asia.
The FTSE 100 index of leading British shares was up 11.40 points, or 0.3 percent, at 3,936.92, while Germany's DAX rose 42.58 points, or 1 percent, to 4,400.55. France's CAC-40 was 12.09 points, or 0.4 percent, higher at 2,933.15.
