Gunman left letters

A man who killed his sister-in-law and then himself at a German courthouse left letters indicating that he planned the shootings, police said yesterday.

The 60-year-old, identified only as Franz N., pulled out a revolver and opened fire during a break in a hearing on a long-running inheritance dispute at a court in Landshut, northeast of Munich, on Tuesday. A second sister-in-law and the lawyer of one of the women were injured in the shooting. They remained in a hospital yesterday.
