Flood affects residents

A flash flood has affected more than 4,000 people in the Inner Mongolia autonomous region after increasing temperatures caused ice on the surrounding mountains to melt, local authorities said yesterday.

A total of 1,163 households and 4,134 residents in Arxan city had been affected as of Tuesday morning, Gao Chen, deputy commander-in-chief of the city's flood control and drought relief headquarters, said.
