If the sheer number of roads and public parks that are named after Dr Sun Yat-sen (1866-1925) is any indication, every city in China feels compelled to commemorate the great man. While some of them, like Nanjing, where the revolutionary was permanently laid to rest, have a more obvious reason, others have simply based their decision on the fact that Sun is today regarded as the "Father of the Nation".
