The Yueju Opera Butterfly Lovers will be staged this month. The tale, often referred to as the Chinese version of Romeo and Juliet, tells of a beautiful story in Zhejiang province; when the romance becomes tragic, the lovers turn into butterflies and stay with each other forever.
The major performers are Yueju Opera stars and all are winners of the Plum Award, the highest prize in Chinese opera.
