Hero memorial to reopen

The Lin Zexu Memorial in Fuzhou, the provincial capital, will reopen in June following a repair and expansion project that started in 2007, the local government said yesterday.

Built in 1905 to commemorate national hero Lin (1785-1850) for his outstanding service during the First Opium War (1840-42), the area has been expanded from 3,500 sq m to 8,500 sq m.
