LONDON: Police raided two places in East London yesterday and detained 80 people suspected of violent attacks around the Bank of England, as new but peaceful protests were staged around the G20 summit.
Around 90 people were arrested on Wednesday evening after repeatedly clashing with police in the narrow streets of the City on what protesters designated "Financial Fools Day".
By mid-afternoon yesterday, after the raids and two smaller demonstrations in the morning around the stock exchange and the Bank of England, the total number of arrests was 111, Scotland Yard said.
