Party chief sacked

Qing Guohua, Party chief of Gancheng town, Hainan province, has been sacked in the wake of a mass incident involving more than a thousand villagers between Gancheng and Baoshang on Mar 25, which left one person dead and six injured, China News Service reported.

On Mar 23, a dispute among students from the two "rival villages" led residents to the Gancheng government building begging for a solution. Several residents escalated tension and subsequently instigated villagers to attack and set the building and a police station ablaze.
