Cops hit by errant man

Three policemen were allegedly injured by a man after a quarrel between the two sides in Urumqi, capital of northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region on Monday, police said yesterday. The case is being probed.

The three plainclothes officers in an unmarked car were transporting a drug addict, also suspected to be a thief, when they were stopped at 9:00 pm on a downtown road by a man surnamed Dai. Dai was crossing the road against traffic regulations and refused to make way for the police vehicle even though the police officers sounded the car horns to warn him.
