The Huangmei Opera Huizhou Woman, which was first performed in 1999, rose to prominence when it was listed among the 2008 Olympic cultural performances. Starring Han Zaifen, a winner of Chinese opera's Plum Award, Huizhou Woman tells the lifelong story of a local woman living in a remote countryside village in Hubei province.
