That afternoon, railway workers realized something was wrong and informed police. Police found some young boys near the tracks and took them to the police station where they admitted to tampering with the equipment. They were taken home and their parents were given a stern lecture. Wang Bo came to the city six years ago and was a tireless worker who supported his parents who live in a temporary home in Jiangyou, Sichuan province, because their house was destroyed by the May 12, 2008 earthquake.
