Ex-judge gets jail term

A 70-year-old former Australian Federal Court judge was sentenced on Friday to at least two years in prison for lying that someone else was driving his car when it was clocked speeding in 2006.

Marcus Einfeld had pleaded guilty in New South Wales Supreme Court to perjury and making a false statement with intent to pervert the course of justice to avoid a speeding ticket. Justice Bruce James said Einfeld engaged in "deliberate, premeditated perjury" and imposed a maximum three-year sentence, with at least two years to be served.
