Cubs to retire Jenkins' and Maddux' legendary No 31

CHICAGO: The Chicago Cubs will honor Ferguson Jenkins and Greg Maddux by retiring the No 31 jersey worn by the two pitchers, the MLB club announced on Wednesday.

"Both of us had pretty good careers wearing that uniform number," said Jenkins on the Cubs website (chicago.cubs.mlb.com). "(Maddux) won quite a few games, a few more than I did.

"To have your flag flowing with four other great players - Santo, Ryno, Ernie and Billy - is fantastic.
