Peking Man turns out older

The iconic ancient human fossils from China, the Peking Man, are, in fact, 770,000 years old, 300,000 years older than previously thought, Xing Gao, an archaeologist with Beijing's Institute of Vertebrate Paleontology and Paleoanthropology, told Xinhua. Using a new technique, a group of Beijing archaeologists arrived at the date, publishing it in the British journal Nature.

"It probably proves that the early hominins used fire regularly," Xing said.
