WASHINGTON: International economists have hailed the fast and focused response made by China to the global financial crisis, tipping its stimulus package to be a success in generating jobs and creating more domestic consumption.
During talks at the Brookings Institute, one of the most influential think tanks in the United States, on Monday, Christina Romer, chair of the Council of Economic Advisers, said the aggressive fiscal action in China and cuts in interest rates across Europe last week were welcome news.
"They are paving the way for a worldwide end to this worldwide recession," Romer said.
