US warns Pyongyang over launch
The new US envoy on the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK), Stephen Bosworth, warned Pyongyang on Friday against launching a rocket, saying "for us it makes no difference" whether it is a satellite launch or a missile.
"We agreed strongly it would be best if North Korea did not fire a missile, whether it's a satellite launch or missile," he said after meeting Japan's Foreign Minister Hirofumi Nakasone in Tokyo. "For us it makes no difference."
The DPRK has said it is preparing to fire a rocket from a base overlooking the Sea of Japan for what it calls a satellite launch. Seoul and Washington say the real purpose is to test a missile.
Bosworth said he and Nakasone "agreed we would like to resume the Six-Party Talks as soon as possible."
