The National Ballet of China will present Raise the Red Lantern, directed by Zhang Yimou. Since its world premiere in 2001, the full-length ballet, which is adapted from Zhang's movie of the same name, has caused a great stir in the world of ballet. The story is set in the 1920s in a quiet courtyard of northern China and tells of the married life of a young girl in those times.
