Deadline trading sets Canadian pulses racing

TORONTO: NHL teams were preparing for the league's trading deadline yesterday with hockey crazy Canadians expected to follow the furious dealing more closely than fans in the United States.

Canada's three all-sport television networks offered live coverage starting early in the day and running continuously through the 1500 ET (2000 GMT) deadline with detailed analysis of each transaction.

Deadline day does not reach the same fever pitch in the United States however despite the NHL managing to grab a healthy share of the sporting spotlight.
